I whipped up two more Jack in the Box blocks in pink and then dug out last year's two blocks. I need to cut some more variety in my backgrounds again..this year's are really white-ish! I also trimmed down all the hst's for next weekend's pink pinwheels!
I had to show you a sneak peak of Kathy's Easy Street quilt too. I have been sick as a dog (seriously I was off work two days..that NEVER happens!) and Kathy was sewing away without me! Two of my friends went to see Bonnie Hunter last Thursday and I really wanted to go but I was too sick! I can't wait to hear how it went Kathy (sewing buddy) and Becky! Anyways, here is Kathy's Easy Street...she is working on the last middle row now...I butted up the two parts for a picture so the design is off but here you are. I love how the colors came out and I know Kathy's sister already loves it. I found one turned Star point which Kathy said to leave...I think I will fix it for her this afternoon :)Saturday, January 12, 2013

Turning the Corner on Easy Street!
I got hit with a nasty cold and wasn't much in the mood to sew today. I did some prep work for next semester's ASL 4 class and watched a little TV. Becky came to sew earlier but I really just sorted some fabric and couldn't get going on Easy Street. Tonight I remembered Bonnie is posting a linky tomorrow and decided I better get to turning the corner on EASY STREET! So away I went, Kathy beside me and Barb on Skype!
Kathy doesn't have all her blocks done but she couldn't resist putting a corner together too! I am really loving how her colors are coming together on this one!

So here is mine all spread out on the bed. I have to say the top went together really easily...WAY better than the blocks did for me. I really love it. Thank you Bonnie K. Hunter for all that you do for all of your fans. I can't wait for the next mystery! Linking up with Quiltville!

Pink Rides Again :)
Since I started my Rainbow BOM in pink early I picked out my Spoolin' Around blocks in pink and sewed them up. I am going to try this all year..when I get a chance I will sew up Angela's color of the month in spools and maybe in that way this challenge will get done!
Here are all the spools so far!

Easy Street Around Block B!
I had a chance to sew today super close to my mom and dad's place! Turns out Jacki lives about two miles from my folks (an hour north of me) so I got to see mom and dad and visit my sister and her friends and spend some quality time sewing at Jacki and BJ.
I added to my 16 block A's today! I sewed up block B (nine of them) and though there wasn't much unsewing, I was quite confused over whether the second row and the forth row were the same upside down...I knew they were, but still I was SO confused about four times. Finally with the help of a few friends and a lot of laughter I got them done! What an accomplishment, I don't think I have ever made blocks with 25 units. This is not an easy street for me---it was more of a twisty, windy, road with a few dead ends but I enjoyed the journey anyways! Bonnie sure has helped me develop skills in sewing!I had to lay a few of the blocks out to see what it will look like together..but I ran out of oomph to sew it into a quilt top and get the borders on. Maybe tomorrow? LOL we will see.
Here is Kathy with her first block A...she has six of them done. Jackie was finishing up her step seven and I think BJ was getting to her step 7. It was nice to sneak in a little sewing with them! Since BJ and Jacki are the new charity challenge chairs for the PHXMQG we were able to get in a little shop talk too!
On the way home I told Kathy...I feel so blessed. Thank goodness for sewing, and for quilty sewing buddies!
Around Block A on Easy Street :)
After work today I spent about SEVEN hours in the quilting studio sewing up block A. Seriously...all sixteen blocks are done! I had a few little unsewing sessions, and one fairly extensive one (I turned the two black and white bricks the wrong way on half of the strips or so...UGH!) but other than that it all went splendidly. I had good company...both in person, on the phone and on Skype at various times so that made me persist or I would have stopped long before all sixteen got done. Here are most of them stuck up on the wall.
Tomorrow I plan to sew block B of which there are only nine...and assemble the top--at least to the borders if possible.
Kathy has three more side triangles to do on clue seven...tomorrow she will begin block A too! Thanks again Bonnie K. Hunter for an awesome mystery!

Backings and Bindings, Oh My!
Last night there was sewing at my house...Kathy and I made backings for our NYE Mysteries for Jonathan and Jordan, for our Christmas Lil' Twister Tree, our Halloween Lil'Twister, the UFO we rescued from the fabric thrift sale that I have since decided to give to my aunt Jenny, and "Lightening's" simple strippie lizard baby quilt and my Picnic (that one had a backing made but will go out with the rest). Well, the lizard one I plan to quilt myself but the other six will go out for quilting. Whoot, Whoot.
We also made several bindings up so they will be ready to go when we get the quilts back. I am still waiting on some backing I ordered on a smoking deal of a sale from Connecting Threads so that I can back my cheddar bow ties with it (and I got some for both Kathy's Easy Street and mine)..hoping it arrives today so I can do that one too! Then my que is cleared lol and I can keep on with Easy Street!
Kathy did a little sewing on her clue 8 Easy Street after all that, but I tidied up the quilting studio, cut leftover bits into strips and strings, etc.
Working today and tomorrow but finish at 2 tomorrow, so there is hope of getting going on Bonnie's final clue tomorrow afternoon!
Started reading Stephen King's "Under the Dome" last night (1.99 how could I resist for my Nook?) and am really liking it so far. I haven't read King in FOREVER because it had gotten old...then after listening to "From a Buick 8" which was ok, I was in the mood to see what another one of his newer books was like. Back in the day I read them all, and Dean Koontz, John Saul, and of course others like V.C. Andrews, Danielle Steel, Jackie Collins, etc. Now I rarely read any of those kinds of books anymore...majoring in English made me into a book snob!
