Gifts and Today's Sewing

I got some great gifts from some of my quilty friends this year!  Barb made me a Packer scissor holder which I just love!  Becky made me the coolest owl ever and a pretty potholder/dishcloth and some jam.  We used the jam on pb and j when we went to the ostrich farm yesterday.  It was delicious!
Ros made me and Kathy each a chicken pincushion!  I think it is so cute...showed it to my mom and she said--I want one.  I said, I don't have the pattern!  LOL!  Mine is the blue one.  Love pincushions!
After the kids got on their plane today I sewed block twelve of Ooh Rah!
Here are all twelve blocks!
I laid out the blue sashing fabric (before I cut it) and plopped the cornerstones on it to see what it would look like.
This one will be done before long and off to Alycia for a Quilt of Valor recipient!

Next I talked Kathy into helping me cut (so I could sew) this Lil' Twister--tiny!  We have the process down now!  So now I have Barb's and mine to quilt.
I also added two or three more Moth in the Window blocks to the pile.  I really love making these blocks!  They just go together so quickly and I don't often work with plaids so that is fun too!
Tomorrow is NYEve already.  We opted not to do the mystery that popped up last minute in my online group.  It has a zillion tiny pieces in it and lots of precutting and sewing that we just did't have time to do before tomorrow.  I am not sure who the designer of it is either...if it is a Bonnie quilt I may change my mind, but it it isn't I am good.  Kathy will work on her Grand Illusion quilt and if Bonnie doesn't surprise us with another clue I will work on Moth in the Window and/or a baby quilt since I found out two of my Neff cousins are pregnant--Kai Len with her first and Jamie with her second!  They are both due in May.  Thinking about Dancing Nines or Princess Crown....we shall see!

Itty Bitty Primitive Pinwheels, aka Lil' Tiny Twisters!

I made an Itty Bitty Primitive Pinwheels Lil' Twister for the quilt camp auction a few months ago and have wanted to make one for myself ever since.  Barb also asked if that could be my Christmas gift to her since she loved it so much.  So tonight I decided to start on both of them.  Here is hers in progress...

I love how tiny these are!  They are a bit labor intensive but Kathy helps me cut the little squares so I can sew as she cuts when I am assembling the pinwheels.
I only made it this far with mine, but will get back to it as soon as I get a minute!
I use the webbing to hold all the blocks in the order I want and it helps me when I sew the rows together, I am all about fast and efficient!
Working all day tomorrow then joining a new group for a hike, Kathy's knees have been bothering her so we took this weekend off since I am going to go tomorrow while she is still at work.  Looking forward to it!  Linking up to Freemotion by the River!

Christmas Gift Push!

I decided to make several of the gals in my family a sleep mask for Christmas.  Just something fun and I actually use mine when the Arizona sun streams in our windows.  The cat loves to sit in the window so the blinds are half up and she moves the curtains getting in and out of the window so most every morning I am in the sun!
I also worked on this March on Bay Packers (Quilt two) today.  All the parts are ready to go into blocks (one leftover block from the last quilt) and I know this one will come together fast--maybe yet tonight?

I managed to get in my Wild and Goosey weekend block.  Apparently I was in a pink mood, lol.  Now I have another row started!
I got my toes done in purple today since tomorrow I go back to my college interpreting job (YAY!)!  Really looking forward to that and I like the schedule I have so far.  I will go to my phone interpreting job about three nights a week but this week I only work that job on Friday so it is going to feel like I have all kinds of time on my hands!

Summer Sewing!

I have not been sewing too much this summer.  Playing lots of games and reading lots of books instead.  Barb keeps on trying to get me in th...
