Breakfast with Bonnie!

So you will never guess who invited me to breakfast last Thursday!  Yes our Bonnie was in town visiting her dad and the rest of the family.  So nice to see her again!  She signed my Allitare!  label and gifted me her Wonky Wishes pattern.
We talked about her gazillions of plans that are coming up (the woman makes me feel like I sit idle!) and about Open Studio.  It was so nice to see her--been too long since October already!  Of course we had to take a selfie!
It was the best Thursday ever!  THANKS Bonnie!

Another Nice Weekend in Arizona!

Not a ton of sewing this weekend.  Kathy and I did a hike on Saturday morning, then I worked all afternoon while she did homework for medical coding and billing classes.  After work I went to a meet up with the "Chubby Chicks" which is a great group of ladies! Coree had us over to her house and we made sugar scrub!
I made a lemongrass one and a eucalyptus orange one.
Meanwhile, I got to talking to Jeanne and she invited me (and Kathy) to go on a hike with her and Liz.  We wound up inviting new to the area Gena along too!  The four of us met up and drove way over to Liz' side of town and she took us on a great hike!  This is the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and we did the Lost Dog Wash Trail.  It has an overlook at the end where you can see Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West.  It has been on our list to tour that, so I think it just moved up!
Jeanne took this picture so she is not in it, this is the overlook area where you gaze at the gorgeous view and then turn around!
Afterwards, Kathy and I went to Roadrunner Sports and got me a new pair of trail shoes!  I went down a half a size and did not need wide in this style.  I love them, they are super comfortable.  My old ones suddenly seemed a big big.  I will wash them and will still use them now and then as they are still in decent shape, but it was time. They were regular shoes too but these are trail shoes...will see if I like them better!

Finally got in a little sewing.  Very happy the Temecula Quilt Company gave us a nice easy block this week for Circa 2016.

Kathy and I also did our 35th Ave. BOM QOV blocks.

Next weekend I am hitting a craft sale up north with mom Friday afternnoon (yay afternoon off work!), doing a workshop all day Saturday and the CC group has planned a hike (same one Becky and I did a few weeks ago) based on my recommendation so it too shall be a busy weeknd!

Circa 2016

Stitched up the Temecula Quilt Company's Circa 2016 center medallion today.  Took my time and took a few seams out to keep my points and match things up better.  Still not perfect, but liking it so far.
In other news, we had the flu at our house (and colds) so it was a long week.  I started feeling better before Kathy but then today I have a migraine.  The fun never ends!  I did go hiking yesterday which was great!  Was hoping to go again today but did not get there so maybe tomorrow.  I hope to get in more sewing too but I don't have much mojo right now!

Trash to Treasure Auction and Sewing Saturday!

Nimble Thimbles had a full house for our Trash to Treasure auction!  This is a fun event where we donate all the crafty items we don't want and after a committee kits them up into bags we have an opportunity to bid on the item for a quarter and if our number is drawn we win!  Right off the bat, Kathy won and then won again!  I won several times too.
There is a gal in our guild who is from Chippewa Falls (where I lived before moving here and where my Dad and Mom's mom is from) and apparently I won some of her stuff.  I have shopped at this shop before it closed.
Also won these blocks, the pattern and extra fabric to complete the table runner. Some of the blocks are already appliqued too.
Here is the rest of our haul...the stuff we are keeping anyway.

All told we bid about twelve bucks!  I am still putting it all away!
Today we went to 35 th Ave. and got our next ten dollar block of the month.  After that we hit several Goodwills since it was half off day.  I got some deals on clothes...moving my way into a size 16..whoot, whoot!  After that we had a frozen yogurt treat and renewed our library cards so I could keep getting free audiobooks.  Since I am freelancing more, I get more car time and am listening to audiobooks on my ipod.

I then started and finished clue five for the Nimble Thimbles Mystery.  It is coming along nicely--rather different looking block on the left.  Not so sure I love the grey in that position but that is alright.
We finally got a chance to recover the ironing board again.  Seems like we have to do it every six months or so. It winds up getting worn through in the area we use the most and then it is a pain to iron on it.  We went with this crazy bowling fabric (which I got from my now ex sister in law for Christmas many years ago) since it is a heavier fabric and I really have little use for bowling fabric.  I kept it all this time because I thought it was cute.

I then spent what seemed like forever cutting for Circa 2016. I wanted lots of variety, so I got it!
The new bowling background on the ironing board is rather a busy backdrop!  Clue 5.

And all the blocks so far. We watched the movie Alive and then Mile, Mile and a Half while we sewed too.
Tomorrow I am hiking with Becky and the kids.  Looking forward to it!

Midnight Flight Christmas Style

I updated my Quiltville Mystery Page and another Quiltville page yesterday.  It was long overdue. Apparently I never blogged about this quil...
