Migraine Monday :)

 Stayed home from work with another migraine yesterday.  Took a triptan and pretty much hung out in bed sleeping on and off all day.  Finally at about six PM I felt better and sewed up two more scrappy bargello blocks (the blue green ones above) and laid them out with the others to see how it is growing. No plans for this quilt--not even for sure these will all wind up in the same quilt, but the pile is growing.

Kathy is working on unsewing a unit and fixing them so she can get this block part together.  I only sewed about an hour and then went back to bed and started sewing on my purple sock.

 It is the same lace pattern that I am working on with Becky.  I just thought I would get going on an actual pair.  Before long I will have three different socks that don't match!  HA!

Valentine's Day :)

 Happy Valentine's Day!  Today I finished work early and Kathy and I went out for sushi.  Then we came home and did a little sewing and had a relaxing afternoon!  I sewed up this Betty's Choice block just for the heck of it.  It is Bonnie's most recent scrap block in Quiltmaker.  I am thinking I should make one of each block as the magazines arrive and just collect the blocks til I figure out something to do with them.  Then if I find one I LOVE I can keep on making it (like Jack in the Box).  Kathy always has great success with using black instead of lights so I tried it too...not sure it works for this block, but hey it is one block!

 I also did another QOV for Alycia.  Hoping some of the gals from PHXMQG will do a few too and we will mail them out Tuesday.

 I also sewed my purple pinwheels for the Rainbow BOM :)  I still have spools to go.

 We rehung the BOM's now that we have our purple blocks done too.  We haven't done red yet, since we are only two months in...I seriously can't wait to see this rainbow quilt shape up, it is going to be one of my all time favorites, I know already!

 For Valentine's Day I got Kathy a Red Sox shirt and lunch, and she got me this fabric (I was dying to get lots of greens for the emerald challenge coming up and the Denyse Schmidt's were on clearance as was the pattern..lol!  I picked it out and told her thanks!).  She also hunted me down an african violet.  These were my great gpa Rushman's favorite since his wife (Violet Valentine--so named for her birthday on Valentine's Day) was named Violet.  Just realized I love that name, maybe one of my grandaughter's will be named Violet, lol!  I can still remember all the flowers he grew--he also whittled.  I have an amazing peach pit in a basket shape that he whittled.  Hang on, let me take a picture of that too!

Here is the little basket.  It is one of my cherished possessions.  I think of my Grandma Char's (her dad whittled it) grandkids I am the only one that got one.  Pretty cool!  

I remember this set of great grandparents as two people who really loved each other.  They died a week apart when I was in my teens...they couldn't bear to be apart.  My beloved Grandma Char followed just a few years later.  I hope they are celebrating Gma Vi's birthday up there in heaven tonight!  Happy Valentine's Day All!

Bargello Bowl Top Together!

*************************************************************************************************************************************I finished cutting and sewing the last panels tonight and got the top all together. I like it, Kathy really likes it. We decided that we will make this into a new duvet cover for my Norway blanket. The old cover is getting holes in it from wear and tear since I got it in Norway, so I will use it for the lining and this pretty quilt will be the top. The very top and bottom of this one has leftover fabric from my Weaver Fever top which is what is on my bed now so in a strange eclectic sort of way it will match the rest of the bedroom. Smile. I can't wait to get it on the bed!

In other news, we worked on the bedroom earlier and rearranged some of the furniture to make the room look more balanced. Dusted, got rid of the cobwebs (apparently we host all the block's spiders). Moved the pretty lamps up there, etc. The bathrooms are pretty much done (except downstairs grouting) since Randy got the floor done downstairs Saturday and Kathy and I did the one upstairs. Looking better in here everyday! Well off to bed, I have a full day tomorrow.

Past Half Time on Bargello Bowl!

First off I wanted to say that I lost my second seam ripper and about went nuts! I took a break at some point and cleaned up and dug through the bag of fabric I had under my table and found one seam ripper, the other one had worked its way under a dog. LOL! So I have them again (til next time) and they are on my magnet heart so hopefully I won't misplace them again.

I am half done with the panels and need to get out the duvet that I want to use this for since I may not need to put all six panels together to get this to size for that...if that is what I am going to do with it. Not sure if I am going to work some more on this one tonight or not. I need to stretch out and be in a different position for awhile. It was great fun to read the other blogs and posts on Quiltville about doing this quilt (and others too) and I really enjoyed my day. Thanks Bonnie at Quiltville!

More Bargello Progress

So the first panel is finally together. I am liking it! Have to cut up five more panels and get them together, but needed a stretch so I am blogging away to you. Patriots are ahead and my girlfriend is a happy camper. Two dogs still have their Patriots scarves on...the other two ditched them. Maybe they are Packer fans?

Off to get some artichoke dip and reheat my coffee!

BargelloBowl

Almost done with six strip sets which I will soon cut apart and turn into a Bargello. Superbowl is just starting so I guess I am right on schedule.

Made cornbread to go with our chili and also some artichoke dip for the game.

Talked to my friend Connie from Norway on the phone. She wants me to teach her how to quilt...now just to get us together to do it! SMILE!

Scrappy Bargello Start

I picked out fabrics and cut the strips for my Scrappy Bargello this past week.

This morning I started sewing on the Scrappy Bargello quilt. So far I just have a bunch of strips together so it isn't too exciting. I used up my leftover fabric from my Weaver Fever quilt and if this comes out the right size I am thinking I might use it for a duvet cover for the one on my bed so it will somewhat match our quilt.

The dogs are all set as Patriot fans with their scarves on. Otto took his off about five mintues after we put it on him, but the rest have left them on suprisingly!
