Outside the Box Take Three is Quilted

Roslyn sent me pictures...Outside the Box Take Three is quilted. Doesn't it look fabulous? Ros never disapoints! Here is a close up so you can see all the randomness of it!

WONDERFUL! This quilt is going to be in an art show the beginning of December to benefit autism. It is the first quilt I have ever had in anything (other than online) and I am tickled pink!

Here is the wild scrappy background. I wanted to use up what I had and happily I did!

Backing is Pieced for Outside the Box Quilt

I decied to use all my leftover pieces of fabric and the two yards or so that came with the original kit (that I decided I didn't really want to do afterall about two years after I bought it) and wound up with this. Didn't think it out too hard but didn't want all the blue in the middle so I split it and added the pieced part in teh middle. Didn't quite have enough of that blue so there is a red corner. Should make this quilt pretty reversible!

Here is the top again in the outdoor sunlight. Ros met up with me today for a quick exchange and bite to eat and so she will be working this one into her busy quilting and grandma-ing schedule. I appreciate it Ros!

I should also mention I actually lost 4.2 pounds this week! That is 23.2 for the past 9 weeks I think it has been. I needed it..the last two weeks were tough.

And up tomorrow? I am hoping to get Paganini Schnibbles cut and maybe start sewing. I don't really need to do this one, but been thinking of join the Year of Petite Projects and doing the ones that interest me since I had so much fun with A Year of Schnibbles.

Artisian Bread, House Pictures and Outside the Box Rows Together

I finally started putting the rows together for Rachel's "Outside the Box" Quilt. It is looking good and the colors are mixed up pretty well since Hannah helped arrange them on my new design wall before she flew back to Wisconsin last Saturday. Two more rows to go and then the large brown borders...I don't have enough of the brown I was using so I am going to have to find something that is close...tomorrow we will find a fabric store or two and see what we can do.

This is the new table and chairs we just got..it is gently used but we like it. The metal in it matchs the railing which is close by so that works. Don't even ask why the mirror isn't hanging straight...after six trys we are taking a break before getting it right! The door you see is to the garage and the window/sliding doors on the other side of the table goes to the back yard.
Here is the living room which is where we watch TV and chill out on the computer.
Here is the kitchen...and I finally did some cooking and baking in it. I made boiled dinner (no picture yet) and my first loaf of Artisian bread! Two bloggers that I read (sorry I forget which two) have been talking about this book and showing yummy pictures so I had to get it and try it too!
Here is the dough rising and ready to be put in the fridge.

All done out of the oven and it tastes good! Kathy likes it too!

Happy Friday

Today Kathy and I ran a million errands and felt like we got alot done so we went and saw National Treasure 2, then ran to rent NT1 since she hadn't seen it. I sewed a few I love you hand labels on quilts that needed them, worked on the puzzle quilt that wasn't quite right til I was happy with it and browsed through my Denyse Schmidt book and decided I should make the heating pad cover for my heating pad. I also want to make the Mix it up cocktail coasters she has in there and I have collected a few fabrics I think will work for that. I love this book but I haven't actually done anything from it...just looked at it repeatedly!

My other favorite book is by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr and is called The Modern Quilt Workshop. I have actually made two quilts from this book and am really looking to make another. My daughter is the proud owner of Outside the Box and my son of Love Beads. I may make the Zipper quilt for my oldest son too. Here are some pictures of those quilts.

I have really enjoyed being off work so I can quilt and plan quilts and such...I am going to make more of an effort to find time to quilt even though I have to go back to work soon. My migraines seem to have improved and I am wondering if quilting is good therapy for me!
