My Online Yahoo Groups

When Nancy and BJ and I were together this morning we were talking about what other groups we were on and that got me thinking...I belong to quite a few (some more active than others) but I may be missing out on some really great groups...so I was thinking we should have a conversation about what groups we are in and why!
"Quilt-Talk" was my first quilt group I think and until the recent ABC swap I hadn't really done anything with the group other than chat.
I belong to "apocketfullofmysteries" for the awesome mystery quilts on there...I think those are also posted to this list...and "InspectorsClub" and "mystery_quilts" and "QTMysteryQuilts" and "Quilt_mystery" which isn't real active these days all again for the mystery quilts. (Are you sensing a theme here? I really like mystery quilts!)
I also belong to "QuiltvilleChat" which is associated with Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilts (quiltville.com has lots of scrappy quilt patterns...if you haven't ever seen Bonnie's stuff it is amazing!) and Bonnie does mystery quilts which turn out really scrappy and what I like about them is I might never attempt them if I saw it all ahead of time, but step by step it gets done and it is so nice to see everyone's interpretation of the mystery. I have learned alot about color selection through all these mystery quilts.
I am in "Stashbuilders" and "Stash_Quilters" I just joined and now I don't remember why! Stashbuilders does fun swaps and has online sewing bees and we can sign up to give away prizes to each other. It is really motivating!
I joined the "NewQuiltingClub" awhile back and it is a very close knit group of ladies. I met about 12 of them at the quilt show in Chicago last spring. They do lots of different things (we had star block challenges I participated in) and they play bingo all the time. It is one of my favorite groups because I feel like I know so many of them.
I also belong to "PickleRoadStudio" and am a member of the Pickle Posse written about in Quilter's Home magazine. This group is ACTIVE! They talk about everything (and sometimes even quilting) and not everyone gets along but most play fair. It is alot of fun people, but lately I am behind on my reading..I think I have about 4000 messages to read from this past week. Seriously a busy group.
And lest you think I only have one interest, I belong to "BookiesToo" and was an original member of it when it was Oprah's Book Club before we had to change the name. We read books and discuss them and it used to be super active, but now is pretty quiet.
I didn't realize I had joined so many groups until I got to writing this. Once I join I hate to leave but I really enjoy some of the mysteries and challenges that these group have.
Tell me about your groups and why you like them and such...

I also have pictures on flikr and recipes on tastebook...I am leaving an online record of my life I guess!

I found that I was looking at emails more than crafting so dropped a lot of the groups I was on. I’ve moved from mostly e-mail based groups to collaborative blogs recently, although I’ve sent in an application to join ******** The two collaborative blogs I belong to are Let’s Stitch which has a Friday night stitch-a-thon, stitch-a-longs, weekly challenges and all sorts of other lovely bits and pieces....I’ve recently rediscovered x-stitch after an 8 year break and am loving it. The other is one I run called Queer Crafters, which I recently moved from e-mail to a blog. It is a collaborative blog for lesbian and gay crafters. A place where we can share our crafting achievements, ideas, WIPS, UFO's, stashes, ask for advice, list our projects, take part in round robins, challenges, craft-alongs, swaps....and a myriad of other crafty related topics. It is a celebration of our achievements and who we are. We are queer crafters and we are here!

I also didn't add that Queer Crafters is also for transgendered crafters.

I've actually dropped out of a lot of groups. The machine embroidery groups are nothing but ads and some of the quilting ones are so boring and blah. Or they have a zillion members on making it hard to dig through the messages. I've taken a break from them.

I do like my Viking Sapphire group though.

Hello,
I was looking for Dorothy Young's pattern for Tamara's Choice. I tried to find the group A pocketfull of mysteries, but haven't been able to find it. I see that you are on that group. Can you help me access that group and possible give me a link to the pattern?
Thanks
Pam

Friends All Around!

I added twenty more blocks to Friends All Around.  It is now big enough to go on the back of the couch for a summer quilt.  I think the top ...
