March Sewing I Kept Mum

This morning I was cleaning out my emails when I found several pictures I had sent to myself in March (my dropbox is full so that is how my pictures get put on the blog) and in searching the blog I guess I never posted them!  So here are a few of the things I didn't mean to keep mum about sewing in March!

If I already did blog about this, I cannot find it but I am only on my first cup of coffee so...I had to make this block so I could complete this Tula Pink Stacks top.  I won the blocks at Nimble Thimbles  awhile back but did not have the right fabric to complete it..the other winner shared it with me later on and then it just hung out waiting.  It is all ready to be quilted, might have to talk Barb into doing it...too big for me!
I also finished putting together the 35th Ave BOM so I can send it to Alycia.  I made a backing and binding too. Barb's joined it (I did blog about hers) and Kathy is almost done with hers so all three will go out together once Kathy is done.  Hopefully they will make some veterans feel our support!

This is the March block for Pat Sloan's Children's Library BOM.  I have been keeping up on the blocks, just not the blogging about it!
My video relay interpreting job update.  So the company I work for bought out another company and I won't get into the reasons they are telling us versus the reasons we suspect, but they are shutting down all the Arizona centers on July 15th.  So since that is my main income in the summer that was a shocker.  Quite a few interpreters are scrambling to find other work.  I have applied for another high school teaching position...HR has my stuff and if the negotiations go well as far as money, I will accept the job.  I am kind of excited about it though my last high school teaching job was hell.  I do not think I was ready to go from University students to high school students at the time.  I have now taught community college and my expectations are more in line than they were!  Cross your fingers something works out for me please!
Yes it is about 120 degrees here in Arizona.  I have been grabbing all the hours I can get at my job before it shuts down, so today I will do the second nine hour day this week. It is not a nine hour type job...most people come in for two to four hours because it is so demanding.  I will be happy when today is over!
In better news, Barb is coming to sew tomorrow and I do not work at all tomorrow!  I plan to get borders on the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler from 2015. Then I want to get a backing made so I can cross it off my list.  After that maybe back to my latest March on Green Bay Packers quilt.

Rainbow Scrap Sampler 2015

It still needs borders (and I will follow Angela's lead with a pale yellow solid but am skipping the tear drop applique pieces) and that will come soon, but I am SUPER happy to have made so much progress on this UFO!  The chain blocks were worth the effort and make the quilt amazing!  If you want the patter you can find it here.

Rainbow Goodness Going On!

This is the lone block I got from my recently passed friend Michelle.  I made it into a pillow.  I love it!

I have been working on my UFO pick from All People Quilt for this month which is the rainbow scrap challenge sampler from 2015!  That requires a huge mess of every color so as you can see I have been making progress--and a mess!
The alternate blocks got worked on all week when I had some time and I finished the last three today!  The monthly blocks were done each month in 2015.
Today before work (worked yesterday and today--my main job is closing up shop in AZ so I am taking whatever I can get while I can--I am typing at work between calls now!
I am a bit more than half way done with the rows...four done and three to go. It is so big it is hard to get a good picture inside the house!
Nevermind the mess everywhere...I am looking forward to finishing this when I can get a few hours again!  Linking up with the RSC on Angela's blog!

Finally Putting the Lime in the Coconut!

I feel like I did not do much today but I was in my quilting studio all day long (with many treks to do laundry and help Coleman and Chelsea paint the downstairs bedroom burgundy so they can move into the room now that we booted our tenant out for stealing from us).
These are not all of the blocks but what fit on the design wall.  I have to make most of the alternate blocks yet and just don't have the energy to tackle that right now so this project is packed up for another day.  I am linking up with SoScrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  If you have yet to visit her blog or catch this rainbow fever, she is now hatching her plans for Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2016 and it is going to be a row by row.

I made my Betty's Choice blocks for Amy and I.  We are so close to trading blocks now, I can hardly wait!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge in Cafe

Just under the wire I got these brown blocks made.  Thought I was all caught up for October (which has been a whirlwind fast month!) and then I realized I haven't made my Betty's Choice blocks!  So I am hoping to whip those up shortly!  Linking up with Angela over at SoScrappy!
edit  Here are the Betty's Choice blocks too!

I don't think I mentioned that while I was at quilt camp my oldest son Coleman and his new wife Chelsea decided (randomly with no plan) to put some of their stuff in their semi reliable van (puppy and cat included) and move to Arizona.  About three weeks ago we let a friend who is down on his luck move into Coleman's room and so now Coleman and wife are in my spare Packer room which is mostly used to wrapping gifts and storing sewing machines unless we have company.  My house looks like a bomb went off as we relocate tons of stuff and I am now wrapping gifts on my bed again.  The friend is supposed to leave in March or so and I am secretly hoping that happens sooner so we can move these two downstairs.  Anyway life is stressful and I am trying to stay focused on eating right and exercising!  I did go on my first hike all alone this past week, and I lost two pounds!
I am so happy to be getting back to hiking now that it is cooler again!  Tonight we are going to meet up with the little ones and walk around Trick or Treating for a bit.  Will be fun to see them all in costume.

Orange You Glad I Sewed Midweek?

Have had little time for anything other than work and working out but I found a few hours midweek to sew these two Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler blocks!  Trying to stay caught up before my cruise...these were really fun to make!  Whirling blades above and Twirling Four Patch below.
Linking up with Angela over at SoScrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  It is fun to watch this group grow every year.  You can join anytime and it really is fun to get a few blocks done each month that turn into a quilt by the end of the year!

Sunday Funday!

Friday night I quilted and bound this little tablerunner (from Kathy's leftover Celtic Solstice blocks) just in time for Lee and Candy's wedding shower. I had a migraine and didn't go as planned.  And the backing is cute too!
Also got my 99 back from the repair/cleaning guy.  Martha still runs like top!
Today I quilted up my paper pieced jackolantern.  Loving it!
And for more orange, I made my Rainbow Scrap Challenge--Whirler. I am linking up with SoScrappy!
I also got borders and backing on my Happy Scrappy Halloween Houses and made a backing!

Indigo Sunday!

I sewed up two blocks for the Nimble Thimbles Block Party today.  Kind of fun to work in batiks since I have been hoarding them but almost never do anything with them.  They gave us the center fabric and we were to add anything batik to it.

Here is the RSC Betty's Choice in Indigo.  One for me and one for Amy.  These blocks are still super fun to make!  Linking up to SoScrappy!

And here is the first of the indigo RSC Sampler blocks--this is bullseye!
Challenged myself to do a 5K on my elliptical tonight.  Took me 52 minutes--normally I do 30.  Pretty proud of myself since I could only do two minutes on the thing when I first started!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler 2015

I finally got back into the quilting studio and though it doesn't seem like much I have spent about five hours working on the cutting and sewing for the alternate blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler for 2015.  I still have PLENTY more to go but hey, I got row three all into blocks anyways.  I have quite a bit more to do to get caught up for July too--where did this whole month go?  The color is red, and I just pulled it out (haven't touched it yet).  I need to get to the blocks for this month and to the Betty's Choice in red.  Hopefully tomorrow night or Sunday.  Meanwhile, I will go ahead and link up to SoScrappy for once when I get a chance!

Weekend Sewing--Got more blues!

Did my two light blue Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks and am linking up with Angela's blog.  Woven fourpatches above and Ohio Crossroads (or Backroads as I call it since I turned a four patch!) below.

I also made up the rest of the Talkin' Turkey geese.  These blocks should whip up a bit faster now!  There will be a total of 24 of them.
I also did my Wild and Goosey this week.
And I put them all down (two rows are not attached by the rest is all one piece) and Bug had to check them out.  One more block and this might be done.  Not sure yet.
Finished off a few more knitted dishrags.  I really like making these.  I really wish I would get back to the socks...dug them out and thought about it, but I am not sure yet.
And Bug had to pose on top of the quilt that Kathy was under on the couch tonight.  Kathy got sunburned at our Father's Day party at my brother's house.  We both put on sunscreen..I put it on my about three times and only have a little red.  Kathy hasn't been feeling well since about 3.  It was a great day to be out by the pool even if it was 115.  Key is drinking lots of water and plenty of pool time!
We are going to Rocky Point next weekend (then back home a few days) then back up for a long forth of July weekend.  Mom and Dad will stay the whole time and my siblings will be up on the weekends.  Really looking forward to it...been packing like mad because I work 12 hours days this week and know I will be running out of time.  Working at the crack of dawn tomorrow so I better get myself to bed (as if I could sleep at 9:30 PM!) Night owl here!  Kathy is already out!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge and Bitty Blocks!

I made my two Bitty Block Hearts in blue.  Here are all the blocks so far!

I followed the directions (and my notes carefully this time) and even to pictures to prove to myself that I was following the directions (last green geese had the points in the light instead of the green, grrr) and guess what?  I did them correctly.  Apparently last time I didn't follow my notes...I have to make them opposite the direction picture so I must think about it every time!  This is my favorite way to make Flying Geese blocks though (Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day method).

I also used leftover parts I had (gifted to me from June way back when) to make the inner block.  Made it go that much faster!  So here is the green pinwheel.
And here are all the blocks so far.  I am linking up with Angela at SoScrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!

Green, Green Green!

Kathy surprised me with orange roses.   So gorgeous!
Finally linking up again with Angela for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  These are my sampler blocks so far for 2015.

Catch Up of Other Activities!

I went to the Strong Tower Gaming Convention this year.  It was super fun.  I stayed in the hotel with Ashley and Miranda.  I was super tire...
