My To Be Done List

A little more Cheddary Challenge progress.
Finally cut up those Lil' Twister blocks...I didn't put a border on it and may be adding that to the scraps and cutting it out because I miss it!

In May this quilt was sent to Janae and Ralph French for their soon to be born baby boy in Las Vegas.

Quilted this little baby quilt today. Just simple large X's in the corners and went around the orange rectangle and the edge. This one was made during our Staycation in Prescott so glad it is off the to do list! I made one more Pineapple Blossoms quilt block. I now have nine so I can either put this quilt top together or do a few more blocks if I want it bigger. I am not sure who this one is for..maybe one of DJ's older nieces so a little bigger might be better.

I spent some time tonight compiling the list of what I have to do as far as quilts go. I sure hope I haven't forgotten anything...this list is longer than I would like it to be. After all, I tell everyone I am a finisher! I updated the list on my blog and am astonished there are this many. Tonight while reading my blogs I really wanted to jump on the granny square bandwagon, but I think I better print this list off and start crossing them off one by one as I complete them!

Cheddary Challenge Progress

Whenever my little basket of scraps gets low I fill it back up...I am really enjoying making these little bow ties and admiring them on my design wall all year long!
Today I finished off my ninth block and put it on the wall.
It isn't very big yet, but I love the variety of scraps. Bottom row in the center is the "ticket" in at the National Storytelling Festival that I had to pin to my shirt all weekend. Several of the blues in there are my grandma Nan's scraps that I inherited now that she is gone. The Mary Engelbreit black with flowers reminds me of sewing with June and loving her dark background fabric so I had to buy this similar fabric. So many memories and so much enjoyment from Bonnie's Cheddary Challenge! The purple is my daughter's favorite color (and looks like I need to scare up some more purple!).
I can't wait to check out all of the links on Bonnie's blog tomorrow so I can see how everyone else is coming along with this challenge!

And the Rest of the Story...

Yesterday after a long nap I got up and sewed for about three hours. I cut a bunch more bowties and was happy to notice that several of the blue fabrics now completed bow ties two pics up were from my Grandma Nan's fabrics. She passed away a year ago last night so it was coincidental that I ran across these fabrics and decided they needed to be made into bow ties right then and there in honor of Grandma Nan who also loved to sew. I miss her.

Picture below is my Smith Mountain Morning quarter square triangles made with Triangulations. They turned out very nicely!

I also sewed up these little blocks for my daughter Hannah's wall hanging. I mixed them up a few ways and took photos (discovered one turned after and fixed it) but haven't sewn these into rows yet. I have some green leftovers from the same quilt and am thinking I might sew them up and see if that adds some interest.

I started listening to the radio version of Lord of the Rings which is really good! I am already on disc four. I enjoy my sewing so much more with a good story!

Here is Kathy's NYE mystery that she made for her nephew Seth. I managed to machine bind it with a scrappy leftover mish mash of binding. He will love it..he is four and this is his forth or fifth quilt! He loves them to death.

Then today I also pulled out my leftover four patches and cut some red squares to match and whipped up this little couch quilt. DJ is in getting it set to be basted right now (whoot, whoot!)

Here is what I have so far for the Cheddar Challenge. Two nine patches are done and the rest are just hanging out for now.

Cowboys and Aliens was decent. All of us went (DJ, CJ, Randy and I) which is a rarity. I am going to go help DJ baste the four patch quilt, a baby quilt and a little dolly or doggy quilt...that might be it for sewing tonight, but I am off work tomorrow so when I get done with my prep planning stuff I hope to be sewing!

Sewed up 48 of these sets for RRCB step six today. I only had to unsew a few!

And here is my Cheddary Challenge Bow Ties coming along. They are so dang tiny and cute!

RRCB Step Five and a Cheddary (Sisters, Sisters) Challenge

Bonnie K. Hunter posted to her quiltville blog that she and some Sisters, Oregon friends were inspired by this image here (borrowed from Bonnie) to do a Leader/Ender challenge! I have never really done a Leader/Ender challenge and since I love Bonnie and love cheddar and have a whole year I figured why not join them! You can get the particulars on Bonnie's blog at http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2011/07/sisters-sisters-2011-leaderender.html and see my cheddary pictures too! The blocks will be 3" finished and as always Bonnie has included step by step directions with pictures in case you aren't familiar with the Bow Tie block! Join us and we will see what have in a year!

Since I don't think I have any cheddar in my stash I went to the fatquartershop.com and ordered this fabric! I will use what I have for the rest of the pattern, but I had to have the right cheddar, right? I wasn't sure if I should go with a print because I am a print kind of girl, but Bonnie is boldly going with a solid so I decided to follow suit! (suprise, suprise, I am a pattern and apparently a person follower--just as Amy!)

I did get in some sewing before work this morning and am more than half way done with my half square triangles....will be working on them again in about an hour if I am lucky! DJ is helping to rip paper still and I think I have her talked into ironing them too!
