Saturday Sewing :)

I made another Wild and Goosey block today--one more and I can add the bottom row to the rest of it.  I need to get back to making one of these every weekend so that I can get it done, each block takes about an hour and I love paper piecing!

I decided to dig through my odds and ends bin and found some leftover strips way back from when I made A is for Adaminaby and pulled them apart to make these nine patches.  Another mug rug.

Linking up to Slow Stitching Sunday since I hand bound this little mug rug!
This is the flagstones block again, I really think it is cute for a mug rug and love how fast they whip up!
I also made up more of the tiny churn dashes.  They are rather adorable and addicting!  I plan to sew them to some cheddar in a zig zag setting when I get enough variety.

Flagstones--A Patriotic Mug Rug!

As I mentioned the other day, I could not resist making another Flagstones block with leftover nine patches from Carolina Crossroads.  It went together super quickly and was really fun to turn into a mug rug!  The pattern is in Bonnie Hunter's column in Quiltmaker March/April 2014.
You can really see the quilting on the back.  I chose this fabric because I figured I could use it to quilt.  I just followed the random wavy lines and I will say it is the first thing I have ever quilted that I enjoyed and was perfectly happy with when I was done.  I think the next baby quilt I try to do I may choose a backing that helps me out like this one did!
I even hand bound it which was really relaxing.  I don't usually do that anymore because it aggravates my thumb (and as a sign language interpreter I try to have my hands be pain free!).  Something this small is easy enough to do and reminded me of days gone by when I would hand bind my quilts!

Tuesday Night Sewing

I was home from work by four today and I got right on Angela's Broken Dishes block in green for the RSC Challenge.  I had all these hst's left over as bonus hst's from a previous project so it went together pretty quickly!  While digging those hst's out, I found two leftover nine patches (from Carolina Crossroads) and realized they were the right size for another Flagstones block.  I think this one will become a mug rug down the line.
Kathy was working from home (new job--she is training eight hours a day so what is a girl to do?) so I decided to pull out a long leftover project so I could use of the rest of the cut fabrics.  Doubt you remember this quilt from 2010--
But today I whipped up some more snowball blocks and then put a new top together like this:

I like the first one better, but this allowed me to use what I had.  Still have a few blocks leftover but they will find there way into a back or a charity pile or something, glad to cross this one off my UFO list!

Summer Sewing!

I have not been sewing too much this summer.  Playing lots of games and reading lots of books instead.  Barb keeps on trying to get me in th...
