Packer Bliss Quilt and Halloween Ghost and...

I decided to make my sister and sister-in-law a ghost pillow.  These ones are in Halloween fabric and are super fun.  I posed them here with my pillow.  If I have time today I may try to whip up one more for my aunt since I am headed to visit mom (my sister and bf are coming to visit!) tonight.  

You can see my Spiderweb quilt in the background on the couch.  I change the couch quilt with the month or seasons, etc.  I also change the quilts hanging around the house and the ones on the end tables.  I should take pictures of those with the seasons and show them.  

I finally quilted my tiny Twister Harvest Quilt.  This tiny quilt top has been for more than three years, but I can not find pictures of it on my blog or my facebook.  I also tried quilting it a long time ago and did not like it so I ripped it all out and put it back in the pile!  This time I used a template and this awesome chalk pounce pad that Barb sent me.  I LOVE how it came out!  

I hand tacked the binding on the back of this one.  

                                        

My favorite iron died, I bought another on ebay a year or so ago and the button broke off and eventually it died.  The first one last a LONG time (thanks Ann!) so it was worth finding another.  They are antique irons, but they get very hot and are travel size.  I have a modern travel size, but the shape of it is different and I do not prefer it.  I could see from the picture online that it needed cleaning, but I have Dritz Iron-Off Hot Iron Cleaner, so I was not worried about that.  It came in the original box!  It is a Black and Decker Small Wonder iron in case you need a great iron.  Snap it up when you see it!

The iron cleaned up in a jiffy and works great!  Super happy to have it!
Lora finished quilting my Packer Bliss quilt!  I picked it up yesterday and got it bound so I can send it with my sister back to Arizona for my brother Sam and his wife Ashley.  They do not have a big Packer quilt and they are huge Packer fans, so I hope they love it!

This quilt has my grandpa DeLos' pajamas in it!  I am sure there is also the ticking fabric that was from Great Grandpa Tony and Great Grandma Myrt's quilting frame.  

It is a bit hard to see here, but the quilt says GREEN BAY PACKERS and GO PACK GO in big block letters! (it is sideways here).

My cousin's daughter Maggie Lou had her baby boy.  Since my children and my goddaughter did not want Hannah and Jay's baptismal gown, I asked my cousin if they would like it for the baby. They want it, so happy to have found it a new home where it will hopefully get passed down.  My friend Cheri in Colorado Springs made this (I commissioned it, she also taught me to sew) and it has a matching bonnet and baby slippers.  It is so beautiful, but I have dragged it around the country long enough!  I also sent her the light brown open sweater that my Grandma Nan made for Coleman.  All my kids used it and the grands here, but now it is outgrown and needs a new home.  I know Grandma Nan is smiling down to know that more babies will use it!

Hazel is now 5 years old and Indie is 2!  The time flies!  We just had a party for Hazel and did dinner at Olive Garden last night with family.  Being their Lala is the best!  Hazel keeps asking if we can sew (we did make her a skirt and I do not think it made the blog) so I need to start teaching her!  Hopefully one or both of these two will get the quilting bug!

A few weekends ago we went to the apple orchard.  This was the third one I have gone to with them over the years.  The one we like had run out of apples for that weekend.  This was a bit too much walking for me, but thankfully they towed us back and forth on a tractor train.  We got a picture of the three us with everyone smiling!

Mysteries and More Mysteries

These are my fabric choices for Grassy Creek along with the cards I am using them for of Bonnie's.  So where she has orange I have dark blue, etc.  I went with what I have though I LOVE her colors this year.  

Clue one is all ready except I should trim the dog ears off tonight.  Next clue comes out tomorrow already!  I love this time of year as I have so much to sew and have a high motivation to do it.  With my fatigue it is nice to feel PULLED out of bed even for awhile.  

I made some hand warmers for Coleman and his crew for stocking stuffers.  Really on a budget this year with me barely working.

Used my leftover churn dash block to make a tiny pincushion too.  I put it out with my handwork in the living room.  I am enjoying sitting in my new lazy boy rocker and stitching on my hexies.

I realized I posted about the same Halloween box twice...there were two different boxes and I though I was telling you about each of them but nope..the same one twice.  Anyway this was the next one "The Midnight Library" and I had already listened to it but liked it so much I went ahead and reread it.  I discovered that while "listening" I miss A LOT!  I do too much other stuff while listening (right now I have on an audiobook while typing this for example!) so I was glad I reread it.  Had only been a few weeks too so not like memory faded.  Good book and great gifts.  I really should not splurge on these boxes (though we are reselling some of them) but I need all the good mail days I can get right now.  That is the highlight of my day.  Covid is getting to all of us!

I got to see Hazel three times this past week and I enjoyed every minute.  I am happy if she is sleeping in my arms or smiling at me!  She rolled over already (at 8 weeks!) and has now found her hands and can bat at the toys over her head purposefully.  Brilliant, of course, lol!

For Thanksgiving the kids stayed home so since they are our circle we went to their place.  Hannah is a vegetarian and Jeremy is a trained chef (works in IT now but loves to cook) so he wanted to cook dinner.  We cooked a turkey at home Tuesday and spent Thursday morning making pasties with the turkey, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and a little stuffing.  That way would would have our wine gravy to bring over and lots to freeze to eat with our pasties.  We also brought canned cranberries (I am the only one that eats them) and pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie. Hazel slept though all but the end of dinner!

Kathy and I took a road trip about thirty minutes away to get this Seven Wonders Duel game used at less than half the price of retail.  Met a nice gamer guy and I tried the game out before she packed it up for Christmas!

In between clues I kept busy by sewing more string blocks for Geese on a String.  I have quite a few made now!

I also made a little twister.  Have not done one in awhile and usually Kathy helps me (she was working on Frolic) so I had to cut my twist squares and keep them organized one by one but I did it.

I also made some more capes.  Sent two to Norway for the honorary grandsons and one for Saxxon the step great grandson in Ohio.  Hopefully they will all love them.

 Today I am sewing the next clue for the Morewood Mystery.  I cut all the clues for Merry Meyham's New Year's Day mystery the other day and another day did for the FB group's New Year's Eve mystery so I currently have four mysteries in progress.  I do love mysteries and think it gives me an extra motivation to get on it before the next clue comes out!

Nimble Thimble Meeting-Zentangles Fun

 I did a bit of clean up in the studio today and then got my blue four patches done for the alternate block on RSC Sampler 2015.

 I brought my teeny tiny twisters for show and tell to Nimble Thimbles tonight too.  Several of the gals brought their blocks or tops from our Quiltville Happy Scrappy Houses Workshop too.

 This gal made different blocks.  She had a church, school, etc.  Really cute and some of her fabrics were stone or wood looking too.

 This gal had really happy houses too.  Love it sashed in the narrow yellow.  I didn't get a picture of Kathy K. with her blocks but they were cute too!

 I went ahead and decide to join in on making one block to be put in a pool for someone to win.  Maybe I will get lucky.

 Our presentation was given by Amy on Zentangles.  I really didn't know much about it or think I would have a lot of interest in it.  I am no artist so I don't even try stuff that seems artsy.  However, it was really fun to try it out and I could see myself doing it now and then.  I thought it was a great gift idea for others who might like it too.

 Here are my first Zentangles.  Apparently Pinterest has tons of designs because people are always developing new ones.

 Amy uses it in her quilting and so this is how it really applied to us though I don't plan on trying that I think I may just make doodling more a part of my life.  It really was relaxing!

A Few More Items Ticked Off the List!

 I made my Wild and Goosey block today.  This one is a fun one!  I worked out while watching the Packer game--oh what a game.  Really a stressful afternoon at my house.  Bummed they are not in the Superbowl but Kathy is over the moon that her Patriots are in.

 I was feeling blue after that and since it is the color for January in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I went ahead and started sewing these Betty's Choice blocks.  Amy  and I are trading blocks so we are each making one to keep and one to trade in each color all year.  Amy is designing the alternate block so we will be making those too and in the end we will have a cool quilt that has each other's fabric in it!  I am trying hard to make these precise so that I will look like I know what I am doing to Amy--lol!  My first block was a titch small so I made two more that came out better.  I had made too many parts anyways because I wanted it to be scrappy and not have any repeats.

 I also cut a bunch of the neutral triangles so next month will be faster to sew..I have a whole stack waiting for me.  Linking up with SoScrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I then quilted my Teeny Tiny Lil' Twister!  I used a fabric that I could follow the wavy lines on for a backing and I am pretty happy with how the quilting came out.  I have to say too that I love quilting on my Singer 99.  It really just does a great job!

So a few more items ticked off the list...tomorrow I have Pilates and a massage and most likely more sewing time since I am off work.  Tuesday the college starts and I go back to my regular job!

Tiny Finishes and GO PACK GO!

 I had a semi relaxing day (been going way too much!) working out, making homemade soup and biscotti and finishing up the quilting and binding on three little quilts.   This first one is Barb's Christmas present.

 I do still have mine to quilt yet.

 I also got this one done from Bread and Butter "Jelly Stars" which has been pieced and waiting for quilting for TWO YEARS!  I really need to just finish up some of these little ones.  I am not great at the quilting and so that is why they get put off.  I did this one kind of free motion wiggly lines...I am pretty happy with it.

 I also quilted and bound Piney Flats.  This is such a fun bright quilt!  Kathy and I did a little high dusting and shook out and rehung some of the little quilts.

The Christmas Past and Presents is hung up in the middle but it is still awaiting quilting (and the other one is still waiting to come together).  It was fun to have three little finishes today though!

Finally made Ros' Christmas Biscotti!  I didn't get to it in time for Christmas so I made it today--I know I should not have because it is delicious.  I didn't spread the loaves out enough--this one spreads more than my usual recipe.

 It is pretty and tastes great too!

So happy the Packers won today--perfect end (or beginning as Amy says) to a great week!  Back to work tomorrow.  One more week and my college job starts back up too.  I am ready to get back to my normal craziness--bring it on!
