With any luck these will be done by Christmas and I can get to making the Hexagon Flowers Doll Quilt by Kathleen Tracy of Sentimental Stitches.

Handsewn Hexies and a Pack Win!
I sewed up the greyish flower with the purple center today by hand while watching the Packers beat the Lyons. I then had enough time to trim and glue the remaining three flowers.

Another Trip to Mill's End!
My cousin wants me to make her a baby carrier sling so we *had* to go back to Mill's End. I came away with far more than she did! I love, love, love this ball and jacks fabric and didn't get it the first time around. Decided it was still on my mind so I was getting it.
I also found doggie fabric to make my own doggie baby pocket/sling with. And got enough for a few gifts too.
This was the really crazy purchase..I found what seemed to be the entire line of Beatrix Potter fabric...it was not all together mind you. I had to search, but I wound up getting a bunch of it to mix and match for baby quilts. Got three larger chunks for backing too. I know you will be seeing this fabric again.

Hexie Progress
Just because I really don't have anything crafty to blog about I took a progress picture of my hand sewn hexies project. You can see the one I am working on baretted in...I really am enjoying working on this and it having a quilty travel along project. I may only get a few hexies done each time I take it out, but eventually it will grow into something larger. DJ and I went out last night and met up with four of my Deaf friends. It was really nice to relax and not have to interpret everything for DJ! We even danced to "Lady" all alone on the dance floor. Today Hannah will be arriving *yay* and we are planning to go fishing tonight. DJ wants to try to catch a Walleye since she has never heard of or seen them in person. Iwill bring my hexie project and my Nook! We will have a good time with my cousin Tara, her hubby Tommy and son Reid. Some of the gals from last night may wind up joining us too.

And Another Purchase...
It is Pride weekend here in Phoenix so my face is currently sunburned. Here we are enjoying the parade early in the day yesterday.
Friday DJ was sweet enough to run to JoAnn's while I was working to use two more of my coupons and get me two yards each of two other fabrics from the Denyse Schmidt line. She had to go to FOUR stores to find it, but she was determined. Good thing we have JoAnn's aplenty here. Anyway, these are the two that I wound up with. I am a happy girl.
I have been suddenly remotivated to work on my hand sewn hexie project too! Really for two reasons..the first of which is I got this fabric and that is done also in Denyse Schmidt fabric so it made me want to play with it. And second because one of my online groups is apparently doing a hexie challenge which I have been missing out on! It is a bit late for me to join in (behind in my mail) but it was fun to see all of their hexie progress and to dig mine out and start sewing. So I added about five hexies yesterday :) I even dragged it all with me to Pride but didn't wind up sewing there after all. Maybe today? I will get a picture of it soon, it needs a good press first!

Tying up the Lose Ends
I have been working for awhile on handsewing my hexies...here is how they were looking a few weeks back at June's place.June was also working on some hexies!
Here is a picture of all of the Pineapple Blossom blocks I have so far done.
I also mangaged to cleaning up the quilting studio from the after camp hurricane, and I sewed a pair of pants that needed mending. That is about it. Didn't get to anything else I had hoped to sew. I have been crazy busy and enjoying a bunch of my Deaf friends and all that so just haven't gotten to sewing much. I lost 1.4 pounds this week. Not bad for Thanksgiving week. Had dinner here with Becky on Turkey Day and then went to DJ's and had her buried in the backyard cooked turkey (which was delicious) the next day. So overall I was pleased with the 1.4. We are waiting on a new part for the exercise bike which should be here this week too...had messed up my biking routine, but I am getting to pilates once a week and doing some biking and some treadmill. Total weight lost is about 2 oz short of 36 pounds I believe!

My Hexies for the Great Hexagon Quilt-Along
Awhile back I decided I enjoy hand piecing now and again and Ilove having a to go kind of project to work on when I get time somewhere unexpectedly. So I went to http://www.paperpieces.com/ and picked out the size of hexies I wanted to work with and then spent some time getting the hexies all glued to the paper. That was tons of fun and I randomly threw them down and took this picture before they were sewed.
I also gave a package of these hexies to June, BJ and Ros in the hopes it would entice them to sew along. I think BJ has one going though her method is different than mine. Not sure but Ros may have started one too....today I went to June's and worked on mine for awhile and coincidently she was working on hers. Here is a pic of her stacks...she is working with a smaller size and is making sweet flowers!I have had a few hours to work on it here and there and I wanted to show you how it is coming along. I worked on it one day at work when I had an unexpected free hour and also took it with me to the Modern Quilt Guild's meeting a few weeks ago. Several of the gals wanted to know how I did it and they even asked me to show them how sometime. Since then at least one of them started her own hexie project with teeny tiny hexies that look like soup crackers!
I am loving it!
