Wedding, Sewing and Quilting

 My boss Adam married one of my co-workers, Jodi and here are her two older gals and his two in their new family.  The wedding was beautiful. They had it in their back yard and it was perfect.  I was super impressed with it all!  I gave them this Scrappy Trips quilt that I made awhile back.  I hope they love it!

I made two friendship stars in lime green, for the RSC and Bitty Blocks for November. Then I realized that my bear paws were more lime than green so that is that

 I also pieced batting, quilted, bound, and labeled this quilt for my cousin's baby Kace Percy.

Kathy had total knee replacement surgery last Wednesday.  She is doing about as well as can be expected.  She went for a short walk outside today and is doing he exercises.  I know it will be worth it when she is healed, but life is crazier than usual at our place while she recovers.

Scrappy Trip is Bound

 Today at work I made a list of all the quilts I need to quilt, bind, blocks I need to make, etc.  It is quite a list!  So tonight I went ahead and found a binding that would work in the leftover binding drawer (all purples) and added it to the scrappy trip around the world quilt. Now I can cross one thing off the list anyway.

Scrappy Trippin'

 Since I was off work today I decided to dig out my scrappy trip blocks and start playing.  After adding one block I took a picture and decided I like the barn raising look.

 I kept adding blocks while watching some old movies (Serenity and Hackers) and eventually decided it was big enough!

 Two blocks are turned the wrong way in the picture below, caught one before sewing and one after!  This kind of quilt really requires me to sit back and study it!

 Got crazy and added a lime border.

 Then nothing looked quite right for an outer border so this black leafy fabric wound up there.  Tomorrow I hope to make a backing for it and call it done (for now!).

Crazy Busy Weekend!

 Friday I got a text from my brother's fiance informing me that they were finally going to tie the knot at 5 pm that night!  They are adopting a little guy (Colton) in about a month and realized that waiting til next year to officially marry wasn't practical.  They plan to have a "real" ceremony and reception next year.  They both have been working hard to paint the baby's room and redo flooring, etc. and literally jumped in the car and headed to the courthouse as is.  LOL so here they are along with the justice of the peace and Ben in the background (the ringbearer).

I spent the night up at my mom's and then Jacki picked me up and we headed to 35th Ave. for the COM and black bag day.  Then we went to the PHXMQG charity sew in for the afternoon.  Last night I had a crazy migraine and had a long night and bad morning with it.  It is the first one I have had in a bit...ugh!

Ben's mother is also pregnant (the boys will be a month or so apart so Ben will be a big brother in both of his homes!) and tonight I quilted and bound this little quilt for her little guy--Oliver last I heard is the name.

 Today I sewed up some purple (and other) spools too.  Sue and I are going to trade some sets of ten!

 I discovered I didn't sew last month's pink pinwheels up...so here they are!

 I had a special request for a pink block so I made another pink Talkin' Turkey block..these blocks are SO MUCH FUN to make!

 I made four more Scrappy Trip blocks two that look like each of these pictures.

 Meanwhile Kathy has been working on our UFO Twist of Fate!  She has quite a bit done and it is looking great!  She also cut the BOM for 35th Ave and has her first block done (we have to do four each this month) so she is ahead of me!  I was busy quilting away and it will have to wait another day!

NewFo January...

I had no problem starting new projects for January!  I made two Streak of Sunshine quilts..one is already quilted and one is waiting on quilting.

 I also made two Braid in a Day Gnome Couch Quilts.  Also waiting to be quilted!

 I started the Kaleidoscope of Kolor BOM at 35th Ave.  So this one will take a good year to complete.

 I also started a Scrappy Trip Around the World and got four blocks done.

Sunday Sewing--Christmas Through the Year 2013 Begins!

 One more Scrappy Trip Block made last night :)

Last night I went through all of my kid fabric that was hanging out in a big plastic bag.  I had already cut Eye Spy in different sizes, shapes from that fabric and most of it was just bits and pieces.  I put together a stack of odds and ends to give to Megan and found three different chunks for pillowcases, and a few other chunks for charity drawstring bags for PHXMQG February Charity Sew In.  Now my bag is about a third full and I am happy!
So today I have been cutting and sewing pillowcases for Christmas Through the Year!  I participated in it last year and really had a good stock of gifts for giving come December.  So four Christmas gifts made already in January!

This was fabric we got at a fabric thrift sale and I am happy to have put it to good use.  I used Weeks Ringle's pattern (free at her blog) though I used the same fabric on both sides of the strip, and I like how they came out.  Oh and I am enjoying Bonnie Hunter on QuiltCam!

Skillbuilder BOM and More

Magnum from Skillbuilder BOM is done.  It was a little improv, really the first I have ever done.  Not too shabby!

Here is Sound Wave and Magnum, before and after borders.  Next up is spray basting them because soon Alyssa will be showing us how to quilt them!  Check out www.pileofabric.com/  if you want to join in...these are the first blocks.  I am mainly trying to do them so that I can practice free motion quilting...Alyssa has not been doing it for that long, but I have seen a few of her quilts up close and she knows what she is doing!

 I also quilted three mug rugs and pieced another one.  I really love the one I am keeping and think the other two are okay...I may be making more of these, they are fun, but I sure need to work on my quilting skills!  They still need bindings, of course.

 Here is the 100 blocks mug I won resting on my mug rug even though it isn't done.  :)

 Last night I finally caught the strippy trip around the world bug...

I also trimmed up Old Tobacco Road and Kathy cut all the flying geese border parts out!
