Sometimes I see fun stuff online and I really want to join in even though I really have plenty to sew at my machine! So I was thinking about the Quiltmaker Bitty Blocks and decided I could make one of each and then have a mini wallhanging at the end of the year--instead of making a bunch of them like they suggest. I also then had the brilliant idea that I would do them in the rainbow scrap challenge color of the month just for more fun. Here is the Pinky Linky! So I started today and decided I should do two of each--one for me and one for a future quilt camp auction quilt or gift.
I was super happy to use up some hst's that I had leftover from previous projects so it went quicker to make these blocks.
The other thing I realized was that these blocks aren't meant to be the same size--they are mostly between 3 and 4 inches...when I came up with my plan I thought they were all the same size (because I didn't read that far!) so not sure if my plan will work...but I am still going to do two sets of one each and we will see what happens. I guess I have grown as a quilter, doing something without an actual pattern!
I also tried out another new recipe today from my new SkinnyGirl cookbook. This one is light chicken marsala. It was delicious! I will be making this one again as I think all three of us really liked it.

Great blocks.
Great idea to do a mini quilt...I'm sure you'll be able to fit them together somehow, even you just need to add a sashing here and there to bring something up to size.
You can always frame the individual blocks & add a larger sashing to the smaller blocks. Holy cow Angela do you ever stop??
Andee, I always love seeing what you're getting up to! I thought about the Quiltmaker challenge but decided against it since I have so many irons in the fire right now. But it is fun watching it progress though you!
Good for you, stretching yourself by working without a net (pattern)! You'll find a wonderful way to set your mini blocks... eventually. ;-)
Those Bitty Blocks are cute. I thought about joining in too but this year for me it's all about finishing 5 before I can start 1! Oh, the temptation!!!
I just found a slew of hst's as I cleared out my sewing room.... someday they might fit into something like that. Dinner looks yummy, I'll stop over the next time you make it =)
I love combining challenges and melding them to make them my own. I am sure you will make everything work out in the end. Until then, enjoy the process.
Pretty mini's. I haven't made the basket yet. The bow ties were fun to make.
Great blocks. I look forward to watching you play with fabric and blocks each post.
