Ironing Board Redo!

In the past seven months or so I have worn out my lime green ironing board cover!  It has been in need of a redo for at least two months or so and I Jo's challenge finally got me on it!  Thanks Jo!  We decided to put this lovely 80's blue stuff on it that we found at the estate sale last May.  I have several chunks of it and the first one I grabbed was already the perfect size!

It only took about ten minutes to pull off the old and remove the screws that hold my ironing board to the shelves underneath, staple the new fabric on and rescrew the screws.  Of course Kathy did most of the work--with her power drill.

One of the light bulbs burnt out in here today (and of course we don't have any the right size here) so it was either too bright or too dark for the picture, but you can see my ironing board looks like new again!

Linking up to Jo of Jo's Country Junction!  Go on over and see everyone else's ironing board makeovers and maybe do one yourself!

Green (Bay Packers!)

I wasn't too sure I was going to like this ticker tape block for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler, but it was kind of fun and definitely different.
 So far five green blocks.
Then since I needed a project I immediately decided to "just start" on the March quilt that I had cut parts for yesterday.

Eventually I sewed all the yellow and white four patches and all the green and white hsts.

And then I snipped and ironed.
So I thought why not just do one block.
Which led to making all ten of these blocks!  Only ten of the alternate to go!

So then I sewed up all the shirting/white strips for the four patches in the other block (and wondered how exactly I have SO many yellow/white four patches left over--no worries they will get used, I just cannot count!) and here is my stopping place.  By the way this quilt is from a tutorial over at Amy's Passions from March of 2009!  I have always wanted to do it, and once it occurred to me I could change up the colors (and do it scrappy too) so that it would be a Packer quilt (have a whole list of folks who want one of those) I finally got to it.  Some things just have to hang out for five years I guess!

And the best thing is I can count this as some GREEN sewing!

Wild and Goosey Sunday :)

I did some cleaning in my quilting studio this weekend because it really needed it!  I like to be organized, I work better that way!  Shark week on the TV (I did finish listening to "Secrets of Eden" yesterday then back to the TV).  I sew on the left and Kathy on the right.
Here you can see my design wall--yes that modern medallion is still percolating!
My beautiful newly recovered ironing board.  80's blue this time around.

My fabric shelf.  I always take a picture of two of it this time of year so that I will have it on shop hop.  Then while shopping if I am unsure if I really need to buy something I can look at the picture and say--umm no you do not need any BLUE fabric, etc.  Looks like I need orange and aqua and purple.

Here is the 80's blue ironing board cover and the latest Wild and Goosey block!  The pattern is at Quiltmaker if you feel the need to start one of these babies.  The paper piecing is fun--takes me a good hour to make each block and the blocks are small!  One more block and I will add the most recent row.  It really helps to have a goal each week (one block a week) because it is growing!

Prepping for the Next Quilt Camp!

I am planning to go to quilt camp again this Fall (though I haven't actually signed up yet!) and I got to thinking I should start deciding what I want to bring.  I haven't gone in a long while and I don't have near as many working in progress as I used to that I can bring with me.
First up is a paper pieced pattern of the Arizona flag that we got at shop hop last year.  I now have scraps all ready to go for two of them.
I prepped up Piney Flats (a mini Bonnie Hunter) because I love those minis!  I am using leftover nine patches from Carolina Crossroads and Puddle Jump Mystery, but the rest is just cut and ready to sew.

Several years ago Amy posted this pattern from a calendar picture that inspired her.  I was doing too much other stuff at the time and always wanted to get to it!  So finally I got to working cutting this one out.  I decided to do the four patches in yellow so this will be a Packer quilt.  I have no shortage of folks wanting one of those!

I have a few other things ready for cutting--pretty sure I will be all set by the time camp comes around!

Another Great Mail Day!

Look what Tammy from BunBear sent me!  She had some Packer fabric that had to get out of her Bears house so she passed on the "scraps" which are huge and some blocks to me!  I have been waiting for a silver necklace (to put my charm for shop hop on) since I need to get some silver cleaner and clean all my jewelry and everyday I look in the box and nothing!  I am also waiting on some purple chargers for my cell phone (car and house) that have been on their way for almost a month (are they still making them or what?) so I was over the moon to get Packer fabric in the mail today--thank you Tammy!
Now I am off to work, so no sewing going on today :(  I will take my knitting with me though!

Relaxing Day Off--Sewing, Dinner Out and a Fab Mail Day!

I did a little sewing today--I decided to make my Home Sweet Home block into a pillow.  It is all sewn up (front above, back below) and is waiting for me to stuff it and sew it closed.
Kathy and I went out for our annual birthday dinner at Benihana's.  We get a coupon for free food but they changed the rules and you must order a paid entree with the coupon (for the past two years we have had a free dinner since we have a birthday in the same week) so we had to order extra food (which could not be to go) and then box it up to take home to Coleman!  I did not overeat, I tasted it all and ate til I was full!  I did eat the ice cream for dessert though--we did not do cakes for our birthdays this year and we couldn't very well take ice cream home here in Arizona!  It was good and worth it!  I did come home and worked out for an hour and then went for a walk with the dogs (and Kathy) so I am fine with all that!  We weigh tomorrow but it will be a new week after that!
I also had a great mail day today!  I was a winner over at Taffy Talk's blog!  I won a charm pack of Elementary by Moda.  It is really a cute line and I cannot wait to figure out what to make with it!
If you are not a regular shopper of Quilt Taffy's Etsy Shop you should check it out or at least stop over at the blog every Thursday for the generous giveaways Corrie has!  Thanks Corrie, you made my day!

Emerald Jubilee is Coming Together and RSC from 2015!

You may remember a few years ago I completed Ruby Jubilee from Quiltmaker Magazine that year in red.  Becky and Bonnie did it in purple.  I ...
