Summer Day and Pineapple Blossom oh my :)

 Kathy and I got up early and tended June's estate sale this morning, too hot afternoon so it didn't take us long to close up when the people slowed to a trickle.  June sold lots of fabric to lots of happy quilters!  We came home exhausted but I rarely can nap so before long I had texted Becky and asked her to come sew!  I mostly puttered around and talked Becky's ear off but she did help me decide on some grey for Summer Day's binding so it is done and ready for the next little one.

 The back is as cute as the front, lol.  Love the variegated thread that Ros used to quilt it!

 My SoScrappy Rainbow purple pinwheels are done, but half of them didn't get trimmed before I sewed them together.  So these need trimming now and I accidently sewed one together wrong but hey they are done.

 I whipped up one more Cheddar Challenge block...two more and I can add another row to my quilt top.

 Becky whipped up a cute rendition of A is for Adaminaby that matches her Carolina Crossroads.

 I made a second binding and attached it to this Pineapple Blossom quilt which I am pretty sure will go to DJ for her birthday May 30th.  I hope she likes it.

Sunday Sewing or Third Time is the Charm!

I typed this post up twice at work but the computer I was on didn't have google chrome and so all my stuff was lost.   GRRRR.  So I am now at home after a day at work and a few hours at June's place getting organized for the thrift sale.  Wowza, lots of work that is.  Anyway, this first picture is Daisy, Joe, Rosey and Zoe all eating on schedule...no more free feeding for them, they all chubbed up too much so we have changed things up a bit and it is going well.  

This is Kathleen Tracy's Simple Doll Quilt.  I whipped this up for my small quilt group challenge of the month for June.  It comes out of the book below and was made from leftover charm squares.  It will be made into a doll quilt for a gift.  

I caught up on season 7 of Desperate Housewives this past weekend with Kathy on Hulu.  When I wasn't watching that I was listening to this audiobook Randy gave me.  It is keeping my attention too.

Cut more bow ties and sewed another block for the Cheddary Challenge.  I am trying to get another row on before the year is up.  I can't believe it has been almost a year since Bonnie got us sewing these.  I have really enjoyed it--especially knowing I will remember so much about the year based on the fabrics!  This block has two of my just finished Cal Mystery quilt and one from Kathy's.  It also has several floral pieces that were leftover bits from cutting the Florabunda swap for my quiltville swap group.  I sent mine off today and can't wait to see what I get back from the others.  I don't have time to do Florabunda right now, but I will kit it up for when I do.

Also took out the messed up tacking from a week or so ago and redid A is for Adiminaby til I was happy with it.  I got the binding on and hand sewed that down too.

So "Feeling Blue" is hanging in my sewing room (with other tiny quilt peeking out from behind) and now cheers me up.

Judy pulled # 12 for the UFO for June which happens to be my Season Bargellos (all made in a Quilt University class) which is the oldest UFO I have since it was made like four years ago when I was still in Wisconsin.  In case you haven't been with my blog since the beginning, I had this great idea to put them into one quilt so DJ and I worked hard on figuring out borders (not my thing) and putting them all together earlier this year.

Here is what it looked like when it was all together...it is hard to tell but the border fabrics are actually coordinating prints that each of them has in them (just in different colors).  I hate it.  Ros liked the idea of quilting it even less when I brought it to her.  So now it is in the UFO pile and I have to figure out what to do with it.  Seriously.  UGH!.  Please comment with any suggestions you might have.

Bibelot Schnibbles Poses Outside

This is growing on me, lol. It looks good on the rocks outside and a few people commented they really like it on facebook. One of them might just wind up with it! Really looking forward to the Parade of Schnibbles!

Had a migraine today...I guess I was due it has been a light month! Now feeling better but just tired from the meds. Can't wait for Saturday. June and I are planning to go to Ros' AZ Huggy Bunch sewing to help take her mind off Herve's passing. She is going to have to pack her house and move since her income won't be the same without him and it is a tough time for her now but she has some quilty friends who will help schlep her fabric to the new place!

Bibelot Schnibbles....

I have to admit this may be my least favorite Schnibbles pattern yet. I was hoping that when I saw it in the fabric I picked I would like it better, but for some reason this one just doesn't appeal to me! I used Moda's Collections for a Cause: Faith for the fabric and did all of the cutting Wednesday and Thursday. And there was a lot of cutting. I had to do it myself, lol no help! This one is called Bibelot, and I have no idea why!
Here is the very first block, completed before working a long shift on Thursday. I rather liked it and was hopeful...

So today I made up the blocks. I had to trim them all because my quarter inch well, isn't a quarter inch. I should have just cut the white edges a tad bigger than it called for and called it a day.

I didn't like that I was supposed to randomly lay out the blocks. I am a pattern follower and I didn't want to try to copy Carrie's random layout so I really did just throw them together however they went. I was three blocks short and do you see how I solved that problem? Yep threw in some charm squares and just kept sewing. Apparently I can't count!
I do like how the border added to it and I will say that the measurements for that fit exactly, go figure! I have no idea who this quilt is for or what I will do with it beyond shoving it in a drawer to await some idea.
I have loved every Schnibbles I have ever made so it is okay that I am not nuts for this one. I am really trying to honor my commitment to myself to make the Schnibbles each month so I went ahead and did it. I am sure it will find a home. And Carrie if you are reading this..I LOVE all the other Schnibbles! How about you...tell me if you like this pattern or not and why. I am dying to know why it just doesn't do anything for me!

Now to try to find a Christmas gift I want to make for my other commitment!

Sew, Sew, Sew :)

Sometimes I am in the mood to putter and not to really do a huge project. So I went ahead and did a few (not so) leaders and enders for my Cheddary Challenge quilt. Then I laid them out in a different arrangement and smiled!

Then I whipped up some of my leftover charm squares that seemed Valentine-ish (some of them are actually from a Christmas packet) so that I can

Arizona Huggy Bunch and Cal's Spring Mystery

 This post is picture heavy.  Here is the Arizona Huggy Bunch in action.  June did some hand sewing on her hexies.  And the rest of us sewed away.  Four of us were working on Cal's Spring 2012 Mystery.

 Here are mine and Kathy's first blocks.

 These are BJ's layout choices.  She went with the pinwheels below.  We liked her fabric in that layout but Ros, Kathy and I all went with the other layout.

 Samantha finished her first quilt ever!  She started sewing with us three weeks ago and is now up to quilting it.

 Here is mine coming together.  This will be for my cousin Ashley who is getting married this fall.

 Finally snapped a picture of Ros' block.  Ros helped me tons with my new featherweight (more on that later) which I had never sewed on.  I then switched to her featherweight...or was going to, but the switch was acting up on the light so I wound up sewing on her Pfaff (THANKS ROS!) which is an awesome machine.  Ros was also helping Samantha with every step of the way and so didn't get so far on her mystery as we did, but she will get it done in no time.  She is a fabulous host of our huggy bunch!

 Alissa showed us some blocks she had made.  She does beautiful work.

 Kathy was the first one done, that has never happened before, so I told her that she has graduated from quilting school, lol.

 Here is Kathy's finished quilt top!  She is going to give this to her dad for a lap quilt.  He is Irish and the fabric is all about shamrocks and such so he will love it!

 And here is mine for my cousin Ashley and soon to be hubby Ches.  I hope they love it!

Jack in the Box sees Purple!

 Purple is the SoScrappy Rainbow scrap challenge color this month so I managed to sew up two more Jack in the Box blocks in purples!  Here is what it is all looking like now.  Off to sew Cal's mystery at Ros'.
