Shooting Star for Quilt History, Bricks and Stepping-Stones

I pieced together this shooting star for my quilt history block. I am now supposed to hand or machine applique it which I am no good at! I pinned it down, picked out matching thread and that is as far as I have made it.

Also threw together some Bricks and Stepping-Stones (quiltville.com for pattern). I plan to make some doggie size quilts with this pattern. Kathy helped cut out lots of bricks--from my leftover odds and ends so some are on the ugly side from wherever, but the dogs won't mind!
I am also crocheting away on CJ's blanket. I figured I better sew something though or I might forget how! Also did some ironing, had a great afternoon!

I've done the ironing first thing, so I'm hoping I can do some fun things later. You have had a very varied day. Not sure you would forget how to sew

I think I need to get off the bloggin' sites and get downstairs working! The Bricks and Steppin'Stones looks so great and makes me itch to pull out my scraps to start piecing one! I MUST get some of my WIPs and UFOs done first!

Tip on applique:
(disclaimer--I also am not much of an applique'r)
I use the blanket stitch for most of my applique when you want to see the stitching. IF I don't want the stitching to be seen, I use a blind-hem stitch with the nylon thread. I also have my walking foot on MOST of the time.

:0) Happy sewing!

Oooo! One more thing! Rather than pinning, I put a dab of washable glue (glue stick) on the piece to hold it to the background. Just another tip I picked up over at Applebom Yahoo group.
